Welcome to the magical world of PDE! This course is an introduction to PDE, with an emphasis on theory. We will start our adventure by solving four important PDE: Laplace’s equation, the Heat Equation, the Transport Equation and the Wave Equation, and deriving a couple of useful properties. Then, time-permitting, we will cover a couple of miscellaneous PDE topics such as the method of characteristics, weak derivatives, separation of variables, and the calculus of variations.
