Fellow Classmates,
After the disaster in Japan, our campus has been active in trying to provide assistance and relief to ameliorate the devastation. The following is a schedule of the events that will be occurring over the next month. We strongly encourage that you seize this opportunity to help the most worthy of causes.
This week on Wed. and Thurs. at lunch in Paresky: hand-made earrings for sale to benefit Japan relief (Lily Wong)
Paper Crane Folding marathon through the rest of April, sponsored by AASiA – already more than 200 cranes have been folded; see the display in Paresky for folding instructions and information about how to “sponsor” crane folders as a fundraiser for Japan relief.
Tuesday April 12th at 6:30 p.m. – pasta dinner fundraiser at the Jewish Religious Center – all welcome; suggested donation $5. (note: this is not a “meal points donation” fundraiser)
Wednesday April 13 – “Can you last a Muslim fast?” – breakfast and lunch meal points donation (email Yasmine Goeltzer, yg1, to sign up) – followed by a Japanese break-the-fast dinner at Mission and then, at 7 p.m., a film by Linda Hoagland in the Paresky Auditorium. Ms. Hoagland, who was in Japan at the time of the earthquake/tsunami, will be speaking.
April 23 (Sat.) – Mr. Williams Contest – hosted by ACE, with proceeds/donations to be directed to Japan Relief
April 30/May 1 – Japanese movie night, hosted by Japanese Department – films in the “Zatoichi” series: April 30th (at 3pm and 7pm) and May 1st (7pm), Paresky auditorium. Students in the Japanese Department will be collecting donations.
Thank you,
Francesca and Nick
