Fellow Ephs,
Happy spring! I hope everyone got a chance to enjoy the beautiful weather this past weekend and has had a great first week back from break! I’m writing to inform you of a few exciting events coming up this week.
On Sunday, College Council opened the Eco-Cafe at night pilot program. For the next three weeks, CC representatives will be running the cafe in hopes of convincing the administration to provide the service in the future. The cafe will be open from 9-12 PM Monday thru Thursday so be sure to stop by for coffee, tea, scones, bagels, and more!
This Saturday the IM Sports department and CC are putting on the inaugural IM Championship Day. There will be competitions in mixed doubles tennis, world cup soccer, 3 on 3 basketball, and 5 on 5 flag football. It will be a great event with music, food, and exciting action! Sign ups are in Paresky this week at the tables in front and on posters by the mail room and are due by Thursday so that the tournament brackets can be set up. Contact Emily Steinberg (eds1) if you have questions about the event.
Next Saturday, April 23rd, The Lehman Council for Community Engagement invites you to participate in Great Day of Service 2011. Great Day of Service is a day dedicated to active engagement in our local community. Williams students will work with a wide range of local organizations and end our Great Day of Service with a pizza party at 6:00 pm for all volunteers. Sign up here.
Lastly, next week marks the beginning of the annual “Do It in the Dark” energy saving competition. Starting April 18th, dorms will be competing for two weeks to see who can reduce their energy use the most (relative to the winter shutdown). In addition to awesome prizes awarded throughout the week, there will be a lot of great activities: a “no-power hour” featuring Eco-Coffeehouse and poet-activist Andrea Gibson, call-ins to senators, sleepouts, special dinners, and speakers! So get ready to turn out your lights and get involved!
Have a great week! As always, I encourage you to talk to or email me, Fran, or another member of CC if you have ideas or suggestions. Thanks a lot!
All the best,
Nick and Francesca
