I am an Associate Professor of Economics at Williams College. My research focus is on economic development in Africa, with specific interests in preventative health care, transitions to work and agricultural productivity. I have extensive experience working in Malawi, but have also conducted or have active research projects in Burkina Faso, Rwanda and Senegal. I hold a BA from the University of Stellenbosch, an MA from the University of Cape Town, and a PhD from the University of Michigan. I previously worked at the International Food Policy Research Institute in the Markets, Trade and Institutions Division.
