Background on COP21

From November 30th to December 11th, climate negotiators from more than 190 countries will meet in Paris, France at the 21st Conference of the Parties (COP21) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Negotiators seek to produce the first legally binding and universal agreement on climate in over 20 years in order to keep global warming below 2°C. The ability of the international community to prevent the worst effects of climate change greatly hinges on the success of this agreement.
