Audio Content: Macroeconomics and Growth

Hosted by Tim Phillips

First aired on September 5, 2018.

VoxDev's Tim Phillips talks with Yasuyuki Sawada, the Chief Economist of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), about how the objectives and challenges of the ADB have changed in the past half-century as Asian economies have developed and altered how they interact with the rest of the world.

The discussion between Phillips and Sawada is broad, ranging from the changing role of Asia in the world to the impact of China's economy on its neighbors, inequality, the environment, the middle-income trap, technology transfers, and free trade. Sawada doesn't go into particular depth on any of these topics, making this podcast a nice listen for someone who's a little less familiar with Asia or the ADB and wants to have a rough idea on several different topics within the ADB's mandate.
