Week 7: Harvard Taipei Academy | 哈台班

More and more food!!

This week was packed: I went to Din Tai Fung for the second time in Taiwan, tried a poke place all the students had been hyping up, and even went to an Alpaca Café (yes, real alpacas).

I also just discovered a massive park right behind our dorms… of course, I realize this during my second-to-last week here. I started riding the YouBikes for the first time, despite not being the best bike rider, and honestly, they’re super easy, convenient, and should I mention… basically FREE?!

This weekend was bittersweet. We had our HTA Talent Show, where we got to perform with our classmates and teachers! Practicing with Chen 老师 and Xu 老师 was a highlight—we were cowgirls, believe it or not 🤠. Unfortunately, our 300-level class was nothing compared to the 200s and 400s, who went all out with routines, dance choreographies, and everything.

*Note for future HTA students: go big or go home.

I also attended my cousin’s wedding! The venue and ceremony were beautiful, but I will say that Taiwanese weddings are very different from American ones. For one, no one dances?!

And last but not least, I took a trip to Jiufen with a friend. We did a night hike and saw the stunning lights of the town, then ended the night with a bowl of beef noodle soup. Overall, such a memorable way to wrap up my real last weekend in Taiwan.
