June’s meeting will be the last for the summer and Martha’s last meeting before she retires.

Minutes from last meeting

April’s minutes were approved.

Internal Communication – Jim Reische and Carl Strolle, Office of Communications, in attendance to discuss.  Highlights of the discussion:

• Jim said there is a lot going on and more people are getting involved as far as internal communication on campus goes.
• Keeping up with campus events and policy changes is a lot of work.
• The Office of Communications is not technically responsible for campus communications, which leads to the question: who does it?
• Would making Williams more centralized make sense?
• What format would work to help flush out ideas on how to communicate effectively? A survey or focus groups perhaps?
• Reminder that Dining Services and Facilities are two departments that historically do not receive electronic communication well.
• Jim asked members to think about and forward any ideas on formats to get staff ideas, thought and opinions on the topic.
• Carl spoke about the Daily Messaging system which is managed by the Office of Communications.
• It is a good system but does need to be modernized and improved for people with disabilities
• A new Daily Message system will be launched at the end of June.
• This will begin laying the groundwork for future changes and there will be a link to add events to a calendar.
• There will be training sessions available to learn the new system.
