Mental Health Committee

The Mental Health Committee is a College Council initiative created to foster support and strengthen resources for those on campus facing challenges with mental health and well-being. The committee is comprised of representatives from College Council, Peer Health, Active Minds, and the student body at large. By facilitating discussion, addressing issues we see, and learning about the ones we do not, the committee is striving to make Williams a community that does not hide from personal struggle, but faces it head on.
The Mental Health Committee has been collaborating with the Chaplain’s office and Psych Services. For more information about these offices, click on the “Resources” tab above.

The Mental Health Committee is comprised of representatives from the following groups:

Active Minds

Active Minds is a student-run organization working to use the student voice to
change the conversation about mental health on college campuses. Our goal is
to increase students’ awareness of mental health issues, provide information
and resources regarding mental health and mental illness, and encourage
students to seek help as soon as it is needed. We work to reduce the stigma
surrounding mental illness that often prevents students from seeking treatment.

Peer Health

Peer Health is a student-run organization that serves as a liaison between the Health
Center and the student body. We provide the Williams community with information
about mental and sexual health. During our office hours, trained peer counselors answer
questions and sell contraceptives and other items.
