哈台班 Week 3

In week 3 of HTA, I continued to fill my time out of the classroom with immersive experiences in Taiwan. While studying and doing homework after class, I discovered great cafes in 大安 (Daan) near the NTU campus that offered excellent coffee and a relaxing atmosphere. Some even had cats that would sit on my laptop, allowing me to take a break from work. I began to form close relationships with my wonderful teachers, many of whom are from Taipei. They have been incredibly encouraging and a lot of fun to chat with. Practicing with my teachers during class and at office hours has been a lot of fun and very rewarding, as they understand the level of my Chinese and support me whenever I need help with words or pronunciation. This week has been filled with inspiring experiences as we’ve started attending our weekly Chinese Language Tables on Wednesdays. This week, students and teachers visited a Sichuan Cuisine restaurant between classes. On the weekend, I saw my host family again, and we visited many places in 西門町 (Ximending), such as Ay-Chung Flour-Rice Noodle Restaurant, an arcade, a photo booth, and a baseball batting cage. This weekend’s HTA weekend excursions were at 碧潭 (Bìtán) and 北投區 (Beitou). I got to ride a swan boat on the Xindian River (新店) and hike up Yangmingshan (陽明山) with my classmates!
