Danielle, Director of HR, first meeting

Danielle began by welcoming everyone back from the summer and thanking the members’ whose term expired but opted to stay on during the transition.  The entire meeting consisted of Danielle soliciting thoughts and ideas from members on how the Staff Advisory Council could better serve its purpose.  Various topics were brought up, including but not limited to:

• Term limits
• Departmental representation
• Better communication
• Distinction between SAC and Williams Staff Committee (WSC)
• Clarify HR goals and priorities
• What “products” the SAC promotes/produces
• SAC Charter development
• Making meeting time/location more flexible to appeal to broader membership
• Hold year-round meetings and possible change the length and frequency

Danielle suggested she get more information from the different areas in HR so the SAC is better able to advise HR.  A shared space, possible a Google Doc, could be kept to keep the committee up to date on the topics.  Danielle has set some goals for her first year as Director and would like input from SAC on those.

President’s Forum

It was suggested that as many members as possible attend the forum being help by Maud in November and discuss it at the November meeting.

The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, November 6, at 11 am in the HR Conference Room.
