Minutes from last meeting

The 10/4/18 minutes were accepted.

Ideas on Possible Modifications to Staff Advisory Council

• Kevin reviewed the benchmarking data he gathered outlining peer institutions committee formats.
• The SAC is trying to get a better handle on what topics it should be focusing on without overlapping with other committees on campus.
• How to communicate the work of the SAC and where the information is available may need to be revamped.
• An idea was brought up to break down the committee to different “areas” departmental or geographical) and assign “ambassadors” to each area.
• Other suggestions:
  • Flexible terms
  • Expand membership to 15-18
• The committee’s mission needs to be rewritten.
• It was suggested that Richard Duncan attend meetings to engage members in Staff Appreciation Events which is a focus of the committee, or should be.

New Members

There will be a call for nominations in January 2019

New Name for SAC

Members were asked to think of new names for the Staff Advisory Council to better distinguish it from the Williams Staff Committee while maintaining its intention.

The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, December 3 at 10 am in the HR Conference Room.
