I chose to highlight and transcribe two interviews. I have received verbal consent for both interviews.
The first interviewee is a half Bajan, half Dominican male who attends Williams College and who actually does not use the Afro-Latin@ label. I refer to him as HIM throughout the blog.
The second interviewee is a daughter of Dominican immigrants who attends Williams College and perceives herself as an Afro-Latin@ woman. She is referred to as HER.
I didn’t want to synthesize these two interviews, because I believe that each self-identification story is something that is individual but different quotes from their experiences are incorporated throughout the blog. Be on the lookout!
