Hello!
Since I wasn’t able to find much information on this when coming here, I thought it would be fitting to discuss how someone traveling/living in Japan could continue their fitness journey. In America, I avidly lift weights, and try to eat a healthy, high-protein diet.
In terms of going to a gym, this is where many people meet their first hurdle. While gyms are abundant here, it is hard to find one that would allow foreigners (and even harder if you have tattoos). Gyms that usually allow foreigners are also quite expensive (I went to Gold’s gym when I was abroad in Kyoto, which is a whopping 9000 yen per month even with a student discount). The only advice I could offer here is do your research on gyms nearby, and look out for deals: I was able to score a 2000 yen for 2 months membership here in Tokyo at anytime fitness, but that deal only lasted for a month…
I’ll talk about diet and macronutrients in the next part!
