Week Two at Harvard Taipei Academy: 6/23/25 – 6/29/25

My classmate (Bryan) and I got to meet our Taiwanese host family this week. They were very welcoming to us. Their daughter (沐昀,Morning) is a rising fourth year student at NTU, majoring in ancient Chinese writing and competing on the university’s club fencing team. Talking to her was a wonderful insight into the lives of NTU students.

We met them at Chiang-Shek Memorial Hall. We dined at the Chun Shui Tang (春水堂)restaurant, notable as the birth place of brown sugar boba tea (珍珠奶茶). I can confirm that the flavor of the tapioca was far more rich and distinctive than any I had in the US.  Our host family is also very knowledgeable on the Taipei area’s bird ecology and so we also visited the pond located in the grounds around the hall. They pointed out the local wildlife, notably the night heron (夜鹭). I’m excited to meet up with them again during my stay here!
