Agenda:

1. Payroll advice

2. Staff Forum on Feb1st & 2nd

Minutes:

1.    Should it be mandatory to receive your payroll advice electronically? (except for Dining Services and Facilities) The discussion continued from last month regarding the possible cost savings.  The exceptions for Dining and Facilities would be because those departments do not have access to private printers.

Feedback from SAC is that many departments do not have access to private printers. If there was an email each pay period sent directly to each individual confirming the direct deposit that would encourage more people to opt out of the mailing. It was proposed to have the default be to opt in to receiving it at home rather than opt out.

2.    Upcoming Staff Forums: How would you characterize campus climate now?
•    “In transition” with a incoming new president.
•    Economically challenged with more budget cuts, but still optimistic.
•    Several departments in “limbo” with vacant leadership roles and department chair transitions.
•    Departments with staffing shortages are feeling it more.
•    Some are concerned about student services being affected.
•    There is a concern that the Diversity training program is only for staff, not faculty.
•    In general people are more edgy.
•    So many projects/initiatives are just on hold which leads to anxiety.
•    Performance development redesign is of interest to many staff.
•    Cuts that were made last year are reeling their effect now.
•    Where does it end? When do we bottom out?
•    Positive feedback from the extra winter holidays; really re-energized staff.
•    “They” are saying the economy is better, how does that affect us?

Agenda for next meeting:
New items to be discussed should be sent to Martha.
Next scheduled meeting:
