1. Virtual Reality Room

Sawyer 2nd floor, Room 264

There is a dedicated Virtual Reality (VR) room and also a portable VR headset available at Sawyer Library. The VR room is located in the CET (Sawyer 264 on the 2nd floor). The room is equipped with a tower PC, large monitor, Steam account, and a VIVE Pro 2 wired headset. 

How to reserve and access the VR Room
The room key and hand controllers may be checked out (max. 4hrs) through the Circulation Desk during normal Library hours, but you may also reserve the room for advanced dates and/or extended use.

   (While faculty, staff, and students may all reserve the VR Room, faculty and staff are granted priority if reserving the room for course related work.)

2. Go to the Sawyer Circulation Desk (3rd floor)
   Check out the room key and hand controllers.

How to use the VR Room
Inside the room, you’ll find a tower PC with instructions on how to use the VIVE headset. The room itself is outfitted with marking tape and the headset is configured to show the room extent in the visor when a person is near a wall. 

Steam Account
Please feel free to use the provided Williams Steam account credentials, or sign in with your own Steam account. Remember to sign out when you leave.

2. Portable VIVE XR ELITE VR Headset

The portable VIVE XR Elite VR headset (no computer needed) may be reserved by faculty or staff for course or department related work. The headset is intended for use across campus, though it is not weather resistant. Students may not reserve or checkout the portable version.

1. Reserve the portable headset (scroll to bottom of page). Only faculty or staff may reserve and checkout the portable VR headset (students cannot reserve or checkout the portable version).

2. Go to the Sawyer Circulation Desk (3rd floor)
   Check out the kit containing the portable headset, two battery packs, hand controller, and optional cables (optionally allows you to stream on a computer).
