Q: Is Ephoria still singing together this year?
A: Definitely! After listening to auditions for new members, we set our rehearsal schedule and begin!
Q: Does Ephoria hold social events?
A: Yes! We have weekly “Ephoria dates” that pair up members of our group to get to know each other more. We also have gatherings with other acapella groups (even Amherst groups), and of course celebrate together after our concerts.
Q: What do rehearsals look like?
A: We have rehearsals 3 times a week totaling to 5 hours. The rehearsal schedule is formed around our members' schedules and involves warmups, voice part work, and practice as a whole group to learn our arrangments.
Q: What do auditions look like?
A: We’ll ask you to sing a verse and a chorus of a song of your choice, and we’ll also lead you through a series of vocal warm ups and pitch-matching exercises.
Q: Are upperclassmen allowed to audition?
A: Yes! We are open to auditions from every class year, not just freshmen. We encourage everyone who's interested to audition.
Q: What are the leadership opportunities within the group?
A: The senior class will form the President and Music Director roles to handle scheduling, rehearsals, and administrative tasks. Juniors and sophomores elect among themselves an Assistant Music Director, Treasurer, Social Chair, Social Media Chair, Performance Stylist, and Human Resources. Roles are spread out over class years to help facillitate teaching, but learning to arrange, conduct, or beatbox is for anyone interested!
