Disket Angmo

BA, St. Olafs College

Disket Angmo holds a BA in Philosophy (2018) from St. Olaf College in Minnesota, where she was a residential advisor and currently works as a Ladakhi student organizer for social justice. She volunteered at LVC( Lutheran volunteer corps) training youth to work for social justice, sustainability and intentional community building. She assisted mental health providers incorporate Buddhist mindfulness practices and yoga at the Family Enhancement Center in Minneapolis, MN, with a focus on teenage survivors of sexual abuse. Disket also volunteered at the Manava Gokul project in Pune, India where she tutored and provided other social services for children affected by HIV/AIDS. Disket is currently completing her Master in Buddhist Studies from Ranjung Yeshe Institute, Nepal.

For Climate Z, Disket has facilitated many focus groups with women and youth about environmental and social changes including increased tourism, the problem of garbage and microplastics, and increased water scarcity across Zangskar. She also works with women's groups in Langmi, Tetsa, and Karsha villages who are producing handicrafts for the growing tourist trade and building greenhouses to increase winter vegetable production for local consumption and the summer tourist economy.
