Lobzang Wangtak
Lobzang Wangtak is the co- founder of Navikarana Trust, which works to implement climate adaptation techniques in Zangskar. Since 2014, Wangtak has designed and built Artificial Glaciers and Ice Stupas in Stongde village and provided solar-powered submersible pumps that deliver valuable irrigation water to Pishu & Kisherag villages and drinking water to Phugthal Monastery.
In 2021 Wangtak co-founded the Zanskar Conservancy Movement (ZCM) with Tenzin Tsedup to sensitize and mobilize youth in adopting sustainable environmental policies. Since July of 2022, the ZCM has organized garbage collection initiatives in Padum and raised awareness about the dangers of microplastics and pollution in Zangskar. Climate Z is helping Wangtak build more water delivery systems using submersible pumps in Lungnag valley as well as expand and enlarge the ones in Kisherag and Pishu village.
