Immediate Theatre

Established in 2007, Williams Immediate Theatre was a student theatre group dedicated to bringing new theatre to the Williams community. Specifically, Immediate focused on shows with minimal funding and short rehearsal processes (hence the name), student written shows and works-in-progress, and unorthodox events like the annual 24-hour Play Festival. Eventually, as the artistic interests of the two groups realigned and the number of students participating in both increased, it made more sense for Immediate to be incorporated as a branch of Cap & Bells than to exist as a separate entity. As of 2015, Immediate Theatre is nominally defunct, but its mission is now part of Cap & Bells’ own- essentially, that any student who wants to make interesting theatre can and should receive support from Cap & Bells. The 24-hour Play Festival continues to this day.
