Jan. 13, 2018: Field trips to the Hong Kong Museum of History and the Kowloon Area

In the morning, the group learned more about Hong Kong at the Museum of History. Professor O’Connor invited everyone to use a critical lens to see this presentation of “the Hong Kong Story.”

Thanks to Konnor’s great sense of direction and spatial memory,  after a delicious Ramen lunch some of us were able to enjoy the pleasant sights in the Kowloon Park and the sweet taste of McDonald’s ice cream cone (which tastes more delicious than its U.S. counterpart according to the students).

In the afternoon, a local volunteer guide Alla Lau, an impressive lady who cares deeply about the people who belong to the lower echelons in Hong Kong, gave the group a free tour in the low-income areas in Kowloon. The issues related to “housing” in Hong Kong really stood out in this walking tour.

A lot of walking for everyone!
