Jan. 12, 2018: More on HK’s Economy

Today Professor Greg William WHITTEN gave students an in-depth and insightful account of the 1997 Asia Financial Crisis and what the HK government and HKMA (Hong Kong Monetary Authority) did in order for Hong Kong to survive that crisis. He also used the case study of the Food Truck to illustrate the point that although HK had a free market, it was not a completely unregulated one.

In the evening, the students took up the kind offer from Ben, Professor Annie Chan’s husband, to do a night hike to Castle Peak, the mountain right next to Lingnan. They enjoyed a stunning view on top of the mountain.
