7-1-18 Mong Kok and Confusion

Today started like the average lazy Sunday back in Williamstown. By around 9 I was able to drag myself out of bed and head to the library. However, I forgot to check the hours and the doors were locked when I arrived. I returned to my room defeated, about to do work there, when Zihan and Tongyu invited me to head to Mong Kok to go shopping. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. Before I knew it all my senses were assailed by the chitter chatter around me and the strange smells wafting from the vendors that lined the Ladies’ Market. Everywhere I looked hung fake Supreme goods and vendors with their calculators at the ready haggling with foreigners and locals alike. I’ve never seen anything like it before, the clutter, the humidity, the endless corridors of makeshift stalls and their beckoning vendors made the reality of being so far from home more real than ever. By late afternoon we made our way to get food and out range of the noisy vendors, but not still within reach of the stinky tofu smell. By the time we finished eating I decided to head back home were I laid down, trying to process the day, and almost immediately fell asleep.
