Today(? I don’t even know anymore) was a long travel day, but we finally made it to Kyoto and it is so amazing to be back! We started out at 5 am in Williamstown and drove to Albany to board the first of three flights. I slept very little, all in all, until (of course) the last short flight from Tokyo to Osaka, when my body finally decided it was tired. I am hoping that means I will zonk out after I finish writing this but really who knows? Jet lag is weird. In spite of my Sudden Onset Fatigue, I was thrilled to be driving through the Kansai again and did not take my eyes off the window for the entire drive into Kyoto city.
And then we were finally here! I made my first (probably of many this trip, let’s be honest) pilgrimage to Sushi no Musashi, my favorite conveyor belt sushi place, which is dangerously close to our hostel with most of the rest of the group, whom I am hoping I hooked, though it is hard to tell because everyone is so fried. I am excited for tomorrow when we will meet a Zen Priest and do some Zazen (and hopefully stay awake), and just to be in Kyoto again.
