Guidelines

Faculty, administration and staff may propose projects to the WCF Program Committee, chaired by the principal. Recommended projects will be sent first to the superintendent for review and then sent to the WCF Steering Committee for approval and funding.

Examples of projects supported to date include: mathematics and science department needs assessments; instructional coaching for mathematics, science and literacy; laptop carts; professional development on behavior management and relationship building; digital media literacy and lesson design; development of an independent and experiential learning program along with a critical language program; a joint middle- and high-school interdisciplinary choral residency; and a summer institute focused on teacher-designed course development.

Grant Proposal Criteria:

Proposals to the WCF Program Committee should include:

  • Statement of purpose incorporating
  • A summary of the initiative
  • Beneficiary (broad audiences are encouraged)
  • Relevance to the District’s Mission and Strategic Plan (PDF) and, if relevant, Massachusetts Common Core State Standards
  • Timeline
  • Means of short-and long-term assessment
  • Relevant links or supporting materials
  • Estimated budget (no personal stipends or travel reimbursements)
  • A list of relevant school or community individuals that you have consulted with in researching and crafting your proposal
  • By June 1, final project or reflection (i.e., a 300-word reflection, photo or video portfolio, student work and/or lesson plans, or other)
