{"id":999,"date":"2013-07-02T09:40:39","date_gmt":"2013-07-02T14:40:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sites.williams.edu\/vintagepoints\/?p=999"},"modified":"2013-07-03T08:18:52","modified_gmt":"2013-07-03T13:18:52","slug":"independence-day-readings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.williams.edu\/vintagepoints\/2013\/07\/02\/independence-day-readings\/","title":{"rendered":"Independence Day Readings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The annual public reading<\/strong> by actors from the <a title=\"Williamstown Theatre Festival website\" href=\"http:\/\/www.wtfestival.org\/\">Williamstown Theatre Festival<\/a> of the Declaration of Independence of July 1776, the British reply to the Declaration of September 1776, King George III\u2019s speech to Parliament of October 1776, and the Preamble to the U.S. Constitution will take place &ndash; rain or shine &ndash; on Thursday, July 4th, at 2:00 p.m. at the <a title=\"Williams College Museum of Art website\" href=\"http:\/\/wcma.williams.edu\">Williams College Museum of Art<\/a>. Admission is free, and families are encouraged to attend. The documents will be read this year by Robert Sean Leonard (<em>House<\/em>) and Paxton Whitehead (<em>The Importance of Being Earnest<\/em>). Both actors will be featured in the upcoming WTF production of George Bernard Shaw\u2019s <em>Pygmalion<\/em>, July 17&ndash;27.<\/p>\n<p>The Chapin Library\u2019s collection of original <a title=\"Founding Documents description\" href=\"http:\/\/chapin.williams.edu\/exhibits\/founding.html\">Founding Documents of the United States<\/a> is on display at the Williams College Museum of Art until the completion of the Stetson-Sawyer project in 2014.
