Some Notes:<\/p>\n

(1) Open Screen<\/span><\/p>\n

-You can swipe through songs once you have more than one<\/p>\n

-Four buttons at bottom<\/p>\n

1. Export Options<\/strong> –> Send to iTunes \/ Email Song<\/p>\n

2. Import from iTunes<\/strong><\/p>\n

3. Plus Sign<\/strong> –> New Song \/ Duplicate Song<\/p>\n

4. Delete Song<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

(2) Editing Interface<\/span> (Buttons from L to R)<\/p>\n

-\u201cMy Songs<\/strong>\u201d brings you back to the Open Screen<\/p>\n

-\u201cInstruments<\/strong>\u201d lets you change the instrument you\u2019re recording with (this will \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0usually be the Voice Recorder for this class\u2019s purposes)<\/p>\n

-\u201cUndo<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n

-\u201cRecord\/Edit<\/strong>\u201d toggles between recording and editing *** a very important button***<\/p>\n

-\u201cGo to Beginning<\/strong>\u201d movies the playhead to the beginning of the song<\/p>\n

-\u201cPlay<\/strong>\u201d (it\u2019ll keep playing until you tell it to stop)<\/p>\n

-\u201cRecord<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n

-“Volume<\/strong>” slider<\/p>\n

-\u201cLoop<\/strong>\u201d (only in edit mode) gives you access to add loops to your song<\/p>\n

-\u201cMixer<\/strong>\u201d lets you control the currently selected track<\/p>\n

-\u201cSong Settings<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n

-\u201cInfo<\/strong>\u201d (question mark) answers every question you could ever have with little \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0post-it notes next to every button<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

(3) The audio recorder<\/span> is pretty self-explanatory. If it doesn\u2019t come up automatically, go to instruments and swipe left or right until you find the microphone icon.<\/p>\n

There are two important points:<\/p>\n

1. to turn off the METRONOME<\/strong>, tap the wrench in the upper right-hand \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 corner and switch the metronome off<\/p>\n

2. if you are going to RECORD SOMETHING LONG<\/strong> – more than \u201c8 bars\u201d – \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0tap the puzzle piece in the upper left, tap the section you want to change \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0(blue circle), and change the length of the song section (32 bar max<\/p>\n

(4) The edit mode<\/span> is a lot like Garage Band on a computer.<\/p>\n

–MOVE CLIPS<\/em>: tap and drag<\/p>\n

–TRIM CLIPS<\/em>: tap and drag edges inward<\/p>\n

–BASIC FUNCTIONS OF CLIPS<\/em>: double tap the clip (Cut, Copy, Delete, Loop, \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Split)<\/p>\n

–VIEW TRACKS<\/em>: tap and drag column on left to the right<\/p>\n

–ADD TRACKS<\/em>: tap the plus sign in the lower left<\/p>\n

–ADD \u201cSONG SECTION\u201d<\/em>: tap the puzzle sign<\/p>\n

–TRACK OPTIONS<\/em>: you can mute a track (speaker with line through it) or make a \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0track a solo = mute all other tracks (headphones) or adjust the \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0volume of a track (volume bar)<\/p>\n

–CHANGE TRACK INSTRUMENT<\/em>: while a track is selected, tap and hold the \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0instruments button<\/p>\n

–ZOOM<\/em>: pinch two fingers together or pull two fingers apart<\/p>\n

***To control where you are, move the playhead (=the tab with a vertical line through the timeline).<\/p>\n

(5) To export<\/span>, choose \u201cEmail Song<\/strong>\u201d then you\u2019ll have to do the rest on a computer.<\/p>\n
