We woke up early and took a bus to Yangmingshan (\u9633\u660e\u5c71, one of Taiwan\u2019s acclaimed national parks. It was much cooler and mistier at Yangmingshan. We took advantage of the cooler weather to hike to Mount Qixing (\u4e03\u661f\u5c71) peak, elevated at 1120 meters above sea level <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It was several miles of nearly continuously climbing stone stairs, and the peak itself was so shrouded in fog it feel like we were inside a cloud. But it was all worth it for the panoramic view of Taipei we got on the way down- looking down from a perch even taller than that of Taipei 101.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In the same day we also got to experience Beitou (\u5317\u6295\uff09and get an insight into the hot springs\u2019 cultural significance. We boiled eggs in the hot springs, enjoying their rich minerally flavor and visited a hot springs footbath, where many locals had gathered to relax and catch up.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Every week here we go on Saturday excursions, but this week was by far my favorite so far.
