2025 KCJS: Entertainment
\n\u4eac\u90fd\u306e\u30a8\u30f3\u30bf\u30c6\u30a4\u30f3\u30e1\u30f3\u30c8<\/p>\n
Spending two months in Kyoto gave me plenty of time to explore both the traditional and the contemporary sides of the city\u2019s entertainment scene. Between classes, homework, and hanging out with friends I met along the way, we made it our mission to experience as much as possible.<\/p>\n
Of course, Kyoto is famous for its temples, shrines, and scenic spots. Yet the growing population of tourists makes visiting these hotspots difficult. However, if you plan your visit around early morning or late at night, you might be able to experience these historical relics alone. Looking back, my two favorites were definitely the late-night visit to Fushimi Inari and a morning trip to Enryaku-ji. In general, these \u201csightseeing\u201d trips often turned into slow afternoons of wandering, grabbing street snacks, and swapping language tips with each other. One of my friends even mentioned how we always found ourselves \u201cwalking too fast as if we were walking towards a destination,\u201d which I thought fitting to show how interesting the streets of Kyoto really were, albeit the unforgiving heat and humidity\u2026<\/p>\n
I also found myself drawn to Kyoto\u2019s modern entertainment options \u2014 the kinds of places you\u2019d go with friends for some pure, unfiltered fun. Arcades, billiards, and especially karaoke quickly became our go-to activities. Karaoke culture in Japan is no joke; almost every time we met new Japanese students from the college, the conversation would end with: \u201cWe should do karaoke sometime.\u201d And sure enough, the next meetup was at a karaoke booth. If I had to recommend one spot above all others, it would be ROUND ONE in Kawaramachi. It\u2019s an all-in-one entertainment hub packed with gacha machines, billiard tables, arcades, and even bowling lanes. The best part? The price is surprisingly affordable, especially compared to other karaoke chains like Jankara or Manekineko. We\u2019d often go in the late afternoon and end up staying until midnight, cycling between karaoke sessions and a few rounds of darts or billiards.<\/p>\n
In short, Kyoto isn\u2019t just about quiet gardens and centuries-old temples, though those are definitely worth every minute. For a college student, it\u2019s also a city where you can mix cultural exploration with late-night fun, and karaoke weekend nights with friends are about as Japanese as it gets.<\/p>\n
