To catch up on what I&#8217;ve been doing, I&#8217;ve decided to write about my trip to the National Palace Museum on July 10th. I think that&#8217;s three weeks in?<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1358\" style=\"width: 294px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1358\" class=\" wp-image-1358\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.williams.edu\/study-abroad-in-asia\/files\/2022\/07\/293990589_455437769923366_5008268483553987217_n-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"284\" height=\"213\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-1358\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Outside Entrance<\/p><\/div>\n<p>I&#8217;ve been to the other National Palace Museum in Beijing, before, though I don&#8217;t remember much of it. I was on the call with my mom when we first entered, and she was super jealous that I got to come to the Taipei one&#8211;she told me a lot of the good stuff had been moved here, and I definitely came to see that.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1359\" style=\"width: 235px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1359\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1359\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.williams.edu\/study-abroad-in-asia\/files\/2022\/07\/292600722_1438336549966197_9163743505419152352_n-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-1359\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Jadeite Cabbage<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"attachment_1360\" style=\"width: 235px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1360\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1360\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.williams.edu\/study-abroad-in-asia\/files\/2022\/07\/293349405_6356258847765523_5777582715727089865_n-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-1360\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Meat-Shaped Stone<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The Meat-Shaped Stone and Jadeite Cabbage had their own special exhibit on the top floor. The Meat-Shaped Stone looked a little lonely in its glass display. I&#8217;ve actually seen it once before, when it was lent to the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco, though like the Beijing Palace Museum I don&#8217;t remember much of it. Definitely an impressive work of art, one that makes you super hungry.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1361\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1361\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1361\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.williams.edu\/study-abroad-in-asia\/files\/2022\/07\/294047670_1009210419755156_7281142306117693690_n-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-1361\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Spring and Autumn period food and wine vessels<\/p><\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1362\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.williams.edu\/study-abroad-in-asia\/files\/2022\/07\/292077801_410092681092167_2494602672657999162_n-169x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"169\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>One of my favorite parts was the exhibit on ancient copper works. It&#8217;s amazing how detailed and well-preserved these artifacts from thousands of years ago, and as someone interested in food history, it was especially cool to see the food\/drink vessels and learn more about the elaborate banquet customs of ancient China.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1363\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1363\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1363\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.williams.edu\/study-abroad-in-asia\/files\/2022\/07\/293563585_568558854804753_3137979053729456710_n-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-1363\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Tried and failed to read the scripts in the calligraphy exhibits<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Unfortunately, we&#8217;d gotten lost on the way (my fault: got on the bus going the wrong way), so we lost a bit of time and weren&#8217;t able to check out all the floors. We&#8217;re definitely planning on going back sometime this next month to finish the whole place!
