Nagoya, Japan: Week 8 (July 25-July 31)

This last week in Japan flew by so quickly. I visited my host family in Osaka for a day, and we celebrated my host mother’s birthday and watched Harry Potter together. On the last day of class at Nanzan University, I gave a presentation to my classmates, teachers, and employees at Maruhachi about my internship experience. We also celebrated my middle school host sister’s birthday by dressing up in yukata, a summer kimono, and going to a local festival at night where people eat street food and dance around people playing taiko drums. On my last night, I went with my host family and friends to eat unagi (fresh-water eel) and watch a fireworks show at Toyota city. The next day, my host family drove me to the airport, where we said our goodbyes. My experience this summer in Japan was truly amazing and unforgettable. I was able to get to know Japanese culture through my host family, traveling, and studying. I am especially so grateful to my host family for all of the generosity and kindness, and for providing me with so many new and unique experiences.
