I have completed one week at ICLP, and the amount of Chinese is certainly a new experience for me. Everyday I take 4 hours worth of Chinese class, and follow that up with more on the street and all over the city. I do feel as though my vocabulary is getting better at a quicker pace than it usually does, simply because new words get reinforced every day many times over. On top of Chinese, the food here in Taiwan is amazing, and I have had the pleasure of trying many different types of Taiwanese food. I live in the middle of a night market, so late night snacks are always available, and I have taken advantage of some dumplings many times over. Overall, my start to the program has been a bit daunting but also exciting, as I am shaking off any rust I may have had from my brief summer vacation and diving headfirst into Taiwanese culture and language.
