After the school week, I went to Jiufen old street. Via research, I found the name Jiufen represents the fact that there were only nine families in the town. The area was initially known for mining but as time past, people left the town. In recent years, several films/dramas were filmed in Jiufen olds street, a lot of tourists like me got interested ,and the street became a must visit tourist place.
Jiufen was beautiful as anticipated. I tried many Taiwanese street food like Peanut Ice Cream and Taro Shaved Ice. Buying souvenirs and snacks, I also was able to use the Chinese that I learned. It was amazing to realize that I could understand almost half of their Chinese. I hope sometimes I could understand everything of what Taiwanese are saying.
