哈台班 – 第七周

HTA is quickly coming to a close! Before we return, everyone is trying to make the most of their time in Taipei. In order to help us close out the program, HTA teachers organized 台北之夜, a showcase of all HTA students’ and teachers’ talents. Unlike most talent shows, or at least what I thought, 

 

Although I lack performance-compatible talents (can’t dance, sing, or do magic), that made no difference. Everyone had to participate in some capacity. Despite my lack of talent, I somehow ended up singing and dancing. For my social study trip, our teacher choreographed a “Straw Hat Dance” with the traditional hats associated with agriculture. We were instructed to dress as “enthusiastic villagers” or “city boys.” After the dance, we 

 

Caron, an amazing dancer, was tasked with choreographing, teaching, and performing a song for third-year Chinese. I strongly suggested that she select “Heated” by Beyonce as one of our songs. Although I have never danced on stage before, I thought that this would be a great opportunity to finally learn. 

 

It was a terrifying experience, but much more rewarding than I had expected. Performing in front of an audience was exhilarating, although I hate to share it was my first and last performance as a dancer!
