Princeton in Beijing Week 5 (Virtual)

Hi!!

Officially 5/8 of the way through PiB! This week definitely flew by! Topics for this week included tiger moms, the Chinese education system and Han Han, China’s “leftover women”, and some poems! I think the class on poems was my favorite this week, since it was such a change from our normal routine and it reminded me of the class I took on Classical Chinese last Fall!

We also got the chance to hear a presentation from Jianying Zha, where she talked about the importance and challenges that come with Translation. And since it was “Food Week” this week, we got to film cooking vlogs to share with other students in the program! It was a lot of fun to use Mandarin to explain cooking and share with my classmates!

I’m also working with one of my classmates to create a podcast for one of our class projects! We’ll be talking about language learning, but I’ll update you all more when we’re finished!

See you next week!
