As sad as it is to say, but the final week of the summer session of my time in Taiwan has arrived, and thus my final blog post for the summer. Overall, it has been a very fruitful summer for me, from exploring new places, foods, meeting new friends, and working on my Chinese, to really learning about myself and becoming independent as I continue to grow as a young adult. Taiwan has really grown onto me these past few months, and when the time comes that I must go back to the states, I will remember Taiwan fondly as a home-away-from-home. I am grateful that despite the ways covid has impacted my life in the US and here in Taiwan, I was still able to come here and have such a positive experience.
My overall reflection of spending the summer here is a confirmation of my belief that there is nothing more essential to one’s learning of a foreign language than the experiences and skills gained through living in the country where the target language is spoken. I definitely gained so much from my time here, and I look forward to the other memories and experiences I will gain as I continue my studies this Fall. Thank you for your continued support <3
