大家好!

This is going to be my second to last blog post, since this upcoming week is the final one in Taiwan, which is absolutely insane! Time flies.

As such, I’m currently getting everything I’ve wanted to done! So this past Friday, I did a little 請假ing (ie not going to school) and went down to 高雄 (Gāoxióng/Kaohsiung) for the day. I’d really wanted to go to Gaoxiong because I’d heard it’s a lot like San Diego, where I’m from, and it totally was!

I started off by going to 蓮池潭 (Liánchí Tán – eng: Lotus Pond), which is a super cool lake surrounded by a ton of temples; it was super peaceful to walk around. Afterwards, I stopped by the Love River, and then went down to the Pier 2 Arts District. I think its due to the proximity of the water, but the temperature was very nice and it really did feel a lot like downtown San Diego 🙂 Afterwards, I went and biked the island of Cijin (I had to take a ferry to get there, meaning I’ve now taken all forms of public transit in Taiwan), which was again, very peaceful and enjoyable. I then went to a night market, and headed back to Taipei. I still love the Gaotie; one direction between Taipei and Gaoxiong was only 90 minutes. Overall, a very successful and enjoyable day trip.

Over the weekend, I finally went out to the Maokong Gondola! Yesterday (Saturday), my language partner and I took the gondola to the Maokong station, and then walked around, had some tea ice cream, and then went back. Afterwards, Alison and I went up to Shilin night market, which we still somehow hadn’t gone to! It was a great night market, and super crowded; I’m really going to miss Taipei’s night markets and just the liveliness and vibrance of the city late at night. Today (Sunday), I fully packed, to get ready to leave on Saturday. Just one more week of classes!

See y’all next week for one last post!
