ACC Week 2

For the most part, I think this week went a lot smoother and better than last week. I’m for the most part accustomed to the amount of work given, even if not entirely succeeding at doing it all well. I am getting more acquainted with my fellow peers, which has been really nice. For example, yesterday we all went to the Great Wall, which was quite astonishing. Despite it being extremely foggy, I preferred going on a cooler day than one where the sun would have been unbearable. I had tons of fun going, and later a group of us went to HaiDiLao for some yummy hot pot. I think it was a pretty wholesome moment for the group, and a chance to better get to know each other. After the meal, we attempted to order a Didi because it had been pouring rain outside, but the wait for one was almost 30 min, so we all grabbed a poncho from the restaurant and went out to walk our way home. It was probably a 40 minute walk, and after a while, we all put our umbrellas away and kind of just embraced the heavy rain on such a warm night. It was honestly really cathartic and much more fun than  I would have thought.

Despite me feeling that I haven’t improved very much in the language, I think that there has to be a kind of trust in the program. The only area I think I can see a slight change is in my 单班课, where I feel things click a little more after having had a day of class. But then again, it’s only been two weeks! Tomorrow marks the start of my third one.

Also, tonight marks my first order from Meituan, a popular delivery service in China, and it was definitely an experience in itself as well. The delivery man ended up calling me to ask for my direction and it was honestly more of a challenge for me and my Chinese. All worked out, but am unsure of when the next time I use Meituan will be. We’ll see.
