ICLP week 7

I had a lunch with Chen laoshi, who was a language partner in my Chinese class last year, and Jenna yesterday. It was really nice to see Chen laoshi again. Chen laoshi was really encouraging, saying my and Jenna’s Chinese has improved a lot compared to when we first took a basic Chinese class together two years ago. However, sometimes I still found myself unable to read menus in Chinese at restaurants, which is a little frustrating. We went to a gift shop near Taiwan national university together after lunch. They sold very cute postcards with some messages written in Chinese, so I bought some. At night, I went to a night market with Jenna. I’d only been to Shilin night market before, which is the most popular one in Taipei city with sightseers, but the one we went together is more popular with Taiwanese people. From my experience, night markets are one of the best places to visit in Taiwan. Night markets are always full of people, energy, and tasty foods, and you can experience unique Taiwanese culture there.

I have a final presentation this coming week. I’ve never really liked public speaking throughout my entire life, and I get nervous really easily when talking to other people. I hope everything goes smoothly. My one to one class laoshi helped me a lot with fixing my incorrect tones and pronunciation, and she even made an audio file of my draft for me. While preparing the presentation, I could find out the frequent errors of my pronunciation, and I realized I have a habit of not moving my mouth enough to pronounce clearly when speaking.
