Week 7 at Harvard Taipei Academy

The highlight of this week was definitely preparing for Taipei Night! Each year was organizing their own performance. My favorite part was that we also got to prepare with the teachers, so we got to know them outside of class.

It was really nice to see everyone do their individual performances as well, Hataiban has so many talented singers and dancers. The other classes’ performances were also really funny and great to watch, and the teachers of each year edited a video together. Our 2nd year teachers’ video was so funny, I always wondered what it was like to be a teacher in HTA, and the videos gave an insight into what it was like.

Taipei night was super bittersweet. I really liked working together with my classmates to organize our performance, but when it was done, I realized we had very little time together. I’m really happy we had Taipei Night though, because it made me appreciate all the time we spent together.

I had to give part of the closing speech of our performance, I was really nervous. It was my first time speaking Chinese to a large group of people, but once I finished speaking, I felt a lot more confident in my speaking abilities. I’m really happy I delivered the speech with my friend, and that I got the opportunity to wrap up our performance.

HTA is really coming to an end! Just a week more of classes. I cannot believe how fast time flew. After the speech, I realized how much my Chinese had improved, and I feel more ready than ever for the last 2nd year classes.
