大家好!As the second week is ending I think I may finally be getting the hang of 哈台班的课程安排 and how I best learn 中文 here. Though I am exhausted everyday, I can tell that I am also really learning so much and that 哈台班会提高我的中文水平。What I really love about this program is the balance of classwork and exploring Taiwan (aka 我们的生活学习平衡). Though I spend basically the whole week lost in a textbook with very limited free time, Harvard organizes 星期五和星期六的活动 to explore the city and its surroundings. Last week we went with 台大 students to go explore some old streets in Dadaocheng, where we got to explore an old teahouse and do some souvenir shopping, which was just a blast. It also gave me the opportunity to talk with students from Taiwan and practice my Chinese while getting a better understanding of life and culture here.
We also have started a mini research project which I am excited for (I think I may be the only one excited for more homework but I actually think practicing a language via 研究 is really cool!). I am doing a project on how social media impacts consumerism in youth, comparing US and Taiwan college student habits. Anyway, I get to do interviews and stuff like that so I’m very excited!!! I’ll keep you all updated as it continues. There’s so much more to say but I guess I’ll just have to keep writing posts because I fear this is getting quite long, 下个星期见!
