Nagoya, Japan: Week 4 (Jun 23-Jun 30)

This week, I took my final exams and gave a presentation in Japanese for my language classes. I also went to make traditional Japanese pottery with my host mother and sister in Seto. We used two methods to make the pottery, wheel throwing and by hand. I made a donburi (rice) bowl and flower vase using wheel throwing, and a little piggy bank by hand. In a few weeks, after they are baked and painted by the instructors, we will come back to pick them up. I also met my host mother’s mother, who made dinner for me and my host family. I tried her homemade aji fry (fried horse mackerel), ebi fry (fried shrimp), tai sea bream, and a cheesecake inside of a real peach.
