My third week was full of new experiences, including getting the chance to see Lingjiao waterfall, which is a small pool of crystal clear water at the bottom of a large waterfall, in the middle of the jungle. We swam around in the pool and met a few locals, and we jumped from the edge of the waterfall into the water below. The highlight of the day was narrowly avoiding getting bitten by the largest spider I have ever seen, with bright yellow skin. Walking face first into its thick golden web was definitely a shock, and then seeing the spider fall off of my shoulder one inch in front of me was another surprise.
Besides that, I went to Keelung and saw the night market there, which was full of people and interesting food. I tried some fried chicken, pork bao buns, and some squid. I got the chance to play a carnival style game where you try and throw rings onto various types of liquor, but unfortunately my friends and I were unable to land a single ring. Nonetheless, seeing baby turtles lifted our spirits, and we had a great night out in Keelung.
