烏石港
No surprises here, but the weather in Taiwan continues to be extremely hot! This weekend I took the chance to go with some friends to 烏石港, another beautiful beach in the northern part of Taiwan that is a popular surfing destination. What was really cool about this beach is that the sand is black (but this also means the sun makes it unbearable to walk on barefoot, ouch!).
After a long, relaxing day at the beach, my friends and I went out for a delicious, Taiwanese family-style dinner.
I enjoyed trying all kinds of new foods in good company.
This week I also decided to start learning how to read zhuyin, the system that is used to teach children how to read Chinese characters in Taiwan. I cannot say I have made quick progress in picking it up as I’m more accustomed to using pinyin, but I hope that with time it will come naturally!
