Staff Council Meeting Location: Human Resources Conference Room
Thursday, November 14, 2013 Time: 11:00 – 12:00 p.m.

In Attendance: Martha Tetrault, ex officio, Colleen Bethoney, ex officio, Tom Aliberti, Angela Copeland, Sue Galli, Michele Migdal, Michele Rech, Donna Richardson, Doug Rydell
Absent: Don Chilson, Bette Phelps, Tony Sinico
Guest: Kevin Thomas, Manager Training and Development

Martha welcomed new member Tom Aliberti, Facilities Service Coordinator, Facilities and Guest, Kevin Thomas, Training and Development Manager, HR.

Professional Development:
Kevin explained to the group why his position was created, its role within HR and the college, and asked for input on specific trainings that would benefit the staff in various ways. He shared that he will be meeting with departments from across campus to get their input, and cultivate professional learning for the staff.

Staff Survey:
Martha encouraged members to look for and participate in the staff survey being emailed to all staff in the next few weeks. The Williams Staff Committee in collaboration with the Office of strategic Planning and Institutional Diversity is conducting the survey. The survey will assist in identifying metrics on how people think about their work experience at Williams and what it means to thrive here. The results will be confidential but not anonymous.

Benefits update:
1. Open enrollment is from Monday, November 18 – December 13, 2013
2. The Wellness at Williams program for 2014 will be announced after break
3. Benefits Committee will be taking up the issue of multiple tiers for coverage later this winter.

Other:
A member was asked by someone on campus whether there is a standard schedule for Administrative Staff. Fundamentally it is expected that a full-time admin staff work the hours required to do their jobs completely. . Supervisors define = clear expectations and to monitor/manage performance, including attendance.
