In M.H. Abrams\u2019s<em> Glossary of Literary Terms,<\/em> he uses \u2018Spens\u2019 as the example under his definition of \u2018ballad\u2019. Below are three versions of \u2018Spens\u2019, beginning with the first published version in Percy&#8217;s <em>Reliques <\/em>(1765).
