Cadet Career Path

General Military Corps. (Course): Freshmen-Initial Military Trainee (IMT) and Sophomores-Field Training Preppie (FTP)

Professional Officers Corps. (Course): Juniors-Intermediate Cadet Leader (ICL) and Seniors-Senior Cadet Leader (SCL)

AS 100 (IMT) – Can be referred to being a “sponge,” to soak up as much information and knowledge about ROTC, military standards, and military lifestyle. The typical IMT will need to explore ways to successfully transition from civilian life to military and will have to work to balance ROTC with everyday college life. Each freshman cadet will need to enroll and pass the First Term Cadet Center (FTCC) to come up to par with information on how the Wing operates and to learn initial Air Force knowledge.

AS 200 (FTP) – Will become a cadet who is fully operational in the Wing possessing the necessary knowledge of performing regular ROTC duties that are given by superiors. As a sophomore, each cadet will be preparing for Summer Field Training. In addition to preparation, each cadet will apply for an Enrollment Allocation (EA) which will be processed through Cadre members and Air Force HQ and is essential for admittance to Field Training.

Filed Training (FT) – Required Boot Camp style Air Force training, for 22 days, during the summer between sophomore and junior year hosted at Maxwell AFB, Alabama & Camp Shelby, Mississippi. Field Training is mandatory for each cadet possessing an EA to carry on in their cadet career paths from GMC to POC. Field Training is a rigorous program involving physical conditioning, weapons training and survival training. But more than that, Field Training is an opportunity to develop leadership skills.

AS 300 (ICL) – Post Field Training cadets, contracted by this time having obligations for future service. Cadets will take part in immediate leadership, having more hands on duties in cadet activities; i.e. organization and execution (Flight Commanders). Cadets will also be paired with a subordinate cadet(s) at the GMC level, teaching imperative lessons towards mentorship and leadership. In addition, cadets will be expected to handle an increased responsibility and higher standards as compared to previous years.

AS 400 (SCL) – Officially apart of upper cadet leadership handling Squadron, Group, and Wing duties. Cadets are expected to handle more responsibility and higher standards as well as mentor and lead multiple cadets, in lower ranks, effectively. In addition cadets are preparing for Active Duty in the Air Force and applying for positions within the Air Force, Rated Slots, and Stations (AFB’s & Overseas Air Base’s). Cadets are expected to receive their colligate degrees at their respective colleges/universities in order to commission.

Upon completion of the AS 400 year every graduating cadet will be commissioned as a 2nd Lt in the U.S. Air Force.
