{"id":30,"date":"2015-11-29T07:14:57","date_gmt":"2015-11-29T12:14:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sites.williams.edu\/ret2\/?page_id=30"},"modified":"2016-08-24T19:56:26","modified_gmt":"2016-08-24T23:56:26","slug":"work-with-me","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sites.williams.edu\/ret2\/home\/work-with-me\/","title":{"rendered":"Work with me"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There are several ways to practice, study, or work with me, depending on your needs and what you wish to focus on.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #663366\">Asana, pranayama, and meditation:<\/span><br \/>\n\u2022 Supported Self-Practice &#8211; Come be a part of a community of practitioners; practice as is appropriate for you, at your own pace, with individual assistance and support from me.\u00a0 See the <a href=\"http:\/\/sites.williams.edu\/ret2\/home\/supported-self-practice\/\">Supported Self-Practice page<\/a> for more on this unique model.\u00a0 For beginners and advanced practitioners alike.\u00a0 If you are just starting out, you are encouraged to do 2-3 private lessons in the first few weeks or months to help establish an appropriate personalized practice.<br \/>\n\u2022 Private lessons &#8211; \u201cOnly practicing yoga in led classes is like only seeing your boyfriend at the bar.\u201d\u00a0 The real work of yoga is personal and internal, so while led classes are a great place to start, they can only give you a taste for the true potential of the practice.\u00a0 Together we will develop a practice that is specific to you, addressing your unique needs, abilities and desires.\u00a0 This will form a foundation to allow you to practice on your own, either at home or in the Supported Self-Practice setting.\u00a0 You will also learn how to balance your physical and emotional states through your practice, and how to modify poses for your body or for specific energetic effects.\u00a0 Typically 90-minute sessions.<br \/>\n\u2022 Led classes and workshops &#8211; none currently scheduled<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #663366\">Dharma:<\/span><br \/>\nThe yoga tradition is rich with approaches for living with greater ease, joy and fulfillment.\u00a0 I am excited to support anyone who wishes to bring these to bear on their own lives.\u00a0 Our work would be based in part on the Vedic concepts described in The Four Desires.\u00a0 For example, I can help you create and work with a sankalpa or develop an authentic &#8216;personal mission statement&#8217; to guide your decision-making.\u00a0 This work might include meditation, pranayama and\/or asana, as tools for accessing your intuition and sense of self.\u00a0 Currently only offered as private sessions; typically 90-minute sessions.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #663366\">Study:<\/span><br \/>\nThe Yoga Sutras of Pata\u00f1jali and other foundational texts of yoga contain great wisdom.\u00a0 Understanding the yoga philosophies can bring clarity to our experience, shifting our perception of our lives and our relationships with others.\u00a0 Currently only offered as workshops.<\/p>\n<p>**Pricing: please speak with me directly about cost; I am willing to work on a sliding scale.\u00a0 (Note, just for comparison, that my colleagues generally charge $100-150 per 90-min individual session.)<\/p>\n<p>For information on my yoga training and experience, see <a href=\"http:\/\/sites.williams.edu\/ret2\/files\/2015\/11\/Becky-Taurog-Yoga-CV.pdf\" rel=\"\">my Yoga CV<\/a>.<br \/>\nContact me:\u00a0 <a href=\"mailto:beckytyoga@gmail.com\">beckytyoga [at] gmail [dot] com<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There are several ways to practice, study, or work with me, depending on your needs and what you wish to focus on.
