A potentially challenging, but fulfilling, read.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Science of Yoga&#8221; by I.K. Taimni<br \/>\nA translation and very in-depth commentary on The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, the ultimate yogic text.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Heart of Yoga&#8221; by TKS Desikachar<br \/>\nA clear presentation of yogic philosophies and practices.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><span style=\"color: #663366;text-decoration: underline\">Meditation<\/span><\/span><br \/>\n&#8220;Moving Inward: The Journey to Meditation&#8221; by Rolf Sovik<br \/>\nAn in-depth description of the physical and physiological aspects of sitting in meditation, including a great treatment of the breathing apparatus and some yoga postures to prepare the body for meditation<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><span style=\"color: #663366;text-decoration: underline\">Asana (Postures)<\/span><\/span><br \/>\n&#8220;Ashtanga: The Practice Manual&#8221; by David Swenson<br \/>\nA detailed guide to the Ashtanga primary and second series, including transitions, modifications, and clear photos of each asana.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><span style=\"color: #663366;text-decoration: underline\">Other<\/span><\/span><br \/>\n&#8220;Waking&#8221; by Matthew Sanford<br \/>\nThe story of healing, of mind-body integration. \u00a0How yoga helped Sanford come to terms\u00a0with\u00a0the trauma of his\u00a0childhood accident and subsequent\u00a0paraplegia.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Art of Stillness&#8221; by Pico Iyer<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So many teachings and practices have helped me considerably on my journey.\u00a0 Here are some of my favorites.\u00a0 I hope they help you, too!
